Music Administration Building

Northwestern has, in its School of Music, the largest single group of music faculty working in the broad area of music cognition to be found anywhere in the world. Coupled with the University's great strength in other areas of the cognitive sciences, this has made Northwestern one of the foremost international institutions for research and study in the young and energetic field of music cognition. Our faculty and students are engaged with the cognitive issues related to musical style, expressive performance, memory for music, multimedia, creativity, as well as other areas. Over 150 students per year participate in a full range of classes, seminars, colloquia, and projects in music cognition.
